Omar Guerra, loyal G&B employee since the company inception in 2011 has been awarded the Hensel Phelps CIP Southwest Regional Award. Omar under the direction of Manuel Galindo Sr, G&B’s superintendent, were key participants in the successful completion of the Fort Sam Dormitories Task Order #5, which was a fast tracked project completed in August of 2013 where G&B successfully installed over 50,000 square feet of EIFS and was the recipient of Contractor of the Month Safety award, CIP monthly award and now CIP Southwest Region Yearly award along with a $1,000.00 check for Omar’s Creativity. Containing the eps rasping procedure by tenting the scaffold during the process, along with a clean up crew equipped with commercial grade vacuum systems were essential to keeping the fully occupied adjacent wing of the building clean and clear from any construction debri, Omar designed a field applied filtering system for the vacuums that kept them flowing at all times and greatly reduced the down time resetting the equipment. Hensel Phelps’ CIP Program is described below.
Continuous Improvement Process (CIP Training)
CIP is a system implemented to utilize employee ideas. It is designed to improve project quality, safety, schedule and cost, as well as employee and owner satisfaction. CIP allows input from all employees to improve each task we perform. Over 25,000 ideas have been submitted since 1993, resulting in documented savings of over $52 million on project costs and for our customers.
